Director of the Institute of Russian, Eastern European and Central Asian Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Sun Zhuangzhi, visited the Senate of the Oliy Majlis.

The relations between the two countries, particularly the development of inter-parliamentary cooperation and ties in education, trade, economy, security, and culture, were discussed at the meeting with the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate Sodiq Safoyev. The parties also spoke about the recent elections of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Sun Zhuangzhi noted that the elections were held within the framework of international regulatory requirements.

The international observer was informed about activities carried out in recent years and their results.

The Senate also hosted a meeting with a member of the UK Parliament in the House of Lords, Baroness Manzila Uddin, and the Founder and Chair of the Conservative Friends of Eurasia at the Parliament of this country, Bota Tore Hopkinson.

During the dialogue with the Deputy Chair of the Committee of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis on Youth, Culture and Sports Dilorom Tashmukhamedova, it was noted that the Presidential Election was held at a high level, the voting process was conducted in full compliance with international standards.

According to Manzila Uddin, voter participation was high, indicating a good organization of election campaigns in Uzbekistan.

Other issues of interest to the parties were also considered at the meeting.
