Strongmen gather again in Khanabad

The city of Khanabad in Andijan region hosted the Etno Strongman Games.

Held on the eve of the 34th anniversary of the country’s independence, the competition brought a truly festive atmosphere to residents.

On the initiative of the Hokim of Andijan Region – President of the Asian Federation of Strongman and Kettlebell Lifting Games, Shukhratbek Abdurakhmanov – the event brought together young and adult athletes from Uzbekistan and around 20 countries, including Egypt, Colombia, Bahrain, India, Spain, Russia, Kazakhstan, Poland, Azerbaijan, and Belarus.

The two days of the Strongman World Cup were filled with thrilling contests. The athletes showcased their skills and abilities in a series of challenging events, such as carrying 120-kilogram kettlebells over a distance of 40 meters, lifting a cart loaded with weight, and transporting special equipment weighing 400 kilograms over long distances.

The performances were judged by a respected panel of referees headed by Latvian international referee Vladislav Redkin.

In the results of the World Cup, in the under-95 kg youth category, the first and second places were claimed by Uzbekistan’s Nuriddin Ergashev and Sherzod Rajabov, while third place went to Murtaza Baglan of Kazakhstan.

In the under-125 kg category, Uzbekistan’s Shodilbek Ergashev and Elyorbek Khamidov took first and second places, respectively, while third place went to Vlad Ilyushits of Belarus.

Among adult participants in the under-125 kg weight category, first place was claimed by David Shamay of Russia, second by Uzbekistan’s Dilmurod Kurbanov, and third by Salah Krishna of India.

The winners were awarded cups, medals, and cash prizes.
