The heads of state and public organizations, officials of law enforcement agencies and journalists attended the event arranged by the State Border Protection Committee of the National Security Service of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the hokimiyat (governorate) of Surkhondaryo Region.

The first deputy hokim (governor) of Surkhondaryo Region, A.Abduqodirov; a responsible officer of border troops of the National Security Service, R.Shoymardonov; and others have said that consistent reforms being implemented under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Islam Karimov, to strengthen the defence might of the country and to ensure the inviolability of its borders and its people’s peace and calm are giving their high results.

In Surkhondaryo Region, 46 neighbourhoods are in territories bordering on neighbouring states. In these population centres, decent living conditions have been created. The number of private modern industrial enterprises is increasing, and the services sector is developing. Quality roads and modern educational and medical establishments as well as culture centres and children’s sports facilities are being built. Natural gas and water supplies are improving. Farmers’ movement is becoming the main factor in the development of rural areas and is playing an increasingly significant role in raising the wellbeing of families and ensuring the employment of people, especially women and youths.

“On the eve of 25th anniversary of our country’s independence, various cultural enlightenment and explanatory events incorporating the idea of My Life, My Destiny – My Native Unique Uzbekistan are conducted,” says Orol Toshboyev, board chairman of the Surkhondaryo Regional department of the Mahalla public charity foundation.

The border troops of the National Security Service of the Republic of Uzbekistan are also actively making preparations for a worthy celebration of the greatest and dearest holiday.

During the event, there was discussion of the implementation of the law “On the State Border of the Republic of Uzbekistan” the region’s districts bordering on neighbouring states, and appropriate measures were specified.
