In Tashkent, the National Agency for Social Protection held an international conference titled “Migration and Sustainable Development: Rights, Protection, and Opportunities for All”, dedicated to International Migrants Day.
It was noted that amid accelerating migration processes, particular importance is attached to combating human trafficking, protecting victims, and providing comprehensive social support to families facing challenging life circumstances.
“To ensure the enforcement of the law, by a relevant Presidential Decree of July 30, 2021, the National Commission on Combating Human Trafficking and Forced Labor was established”, said Matlab Kuranov, Deputy Director of the Migration Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers. “The Commission serves as the main coordinating body for the implementation of a unified state policy in this field and for monitoring the effectiveness of measures being taken”.
At the international conference, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the National Agency for Social Protection and the International Organization for Migration’s representative in Uzbekistan. A roadmap for cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the organization’s local representation was also signed.
These documents will be implemented through specific joint projects and programs to protect human dignity, prevent human trafficking, and support families facing difficult circumstances.
