11:16 / 2024-11-09

The second workshop on the Central Asia Hydrometeorology Modernization Project is being held in Samarkand. Participants are discussing the results of the National Capacity Assessment Tool (NCAT) and developing a regional roadmap.

One of the main discussions during the workshop was the initiative to build the capacity of Central Asian hydrometeorological services and the flood forecasting system.

It was attended by representatives of the World Meteorological Organization and the World Bank, specialists from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. They discussed in detail the goals and expected results from the implementation of this initiative and expressed their readiness to actively support it.

The workshop is becoming increasingly important in increasing the capacity of national hydrometeorological services in Central Asia and sharing best practices in forecasting hazardous events. It will be another important practical step towards strengthening regional cooperation, introducing innovative technologies, and improving climate services for all interested sectors of the economy.
