At the First Tashkent International Investment Forum, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and Sanoatqurilishbank (SQB) signed an Agreement on attracting a credit line of the EBRD for $80 million.
Under this agreement, the EBRD will provide short-term loans to finance the export-import operations of the bank’s clients.
Cooperation between SQB and the EBRD has been fixed since the signing on March 21, 2019, of the Issuing Bank Agreement under the TFP program. To date, more than 100 projects have been funded under the current program, totaling $225 million. The EBRD, recognizing the merits of SQB in this direction, awarded it in the TFP “Best Issuing Bank” nomination.
The EBRD also assists SQB in achieving strategic goals to establish the first Green Bank in Central Asia. In 2021 a credit line for $25 million was allocated within the framework of the GEFF – Green Economy Financing Facility program. The work carried out in this direction again attracted the attention of EBRD and this allowed SQB to become the winner twice in a row in the nomination Deal of the Year “Green Trade 2020-2021”.
According to SQB, the bank is working on attracting an EBRD credit line with the option of converting it into the bank’s equity capital.
