As part of the 64th International Flower Festival in Namangan, various scientific and practical conferences, entertainment events, and major sports competitions are also taking place.
Around 300 chess players from all regions of the country, as well as from Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and the Russian Federation, are competing in the international Namangan Chess Festival tournament.

At the “New Uzbekistan – Youth Enlightenment” Information and Library Center in Davlatabad district, participants aged 7 to 70 are showcasing their skills in classical chess.

The prize fund amounts to 350 million UZS. The tournament is being held using the Swiss system over nine rounds, with participants allotted 90 minutes until the end of the game plus an additional 30 seconds per move.

At the tournament’s official opening, Deputy Hokim of Namangan region Otabek Bozorov and Secretary General of Uzbekistan Chess Federation Bobur Sattarov emphasized the growing interest in chess and checkers among the youth of the country and noted that efforts in this direction are yielding positive results.

The winners and prize recipients will be determined on June 5.
