A delegation led by the Director of the Center for Islamic Civilization of Uzbekistan Firdavs Abdukhalikov visited the UK to strengthen cooperation in education and enlightenment.
A meeting was held at the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies. It was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Ravshan Usmanov, Rector of the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan Uygun Gafurov, Director of the International Research Center named after Imam Bukhari Shovosil Ziyodov, Director of the International Research Center named after Imam Termizi Muzaffarkhon Joniyev, Director of the International Research Center named after Imam Maturidi Jamoliddin Karimov, and others.
Information was provided on the work carried out in New Uzbekistan to preserve, study, and popularize cultural heritage. Presentations were made on current scientific research in this area and the active development of international cooperation. The Uzbekistan delegation’s presentations aroused great interest among British scientists, orientalists, and Islamic scholars.
Representatives of the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies presented the project “Historical Atlas of the Islamic World”, implemented in cooperation with several countries.
As part of the event, an exhibition of recently published books and albums was organized. The Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies was presented with a facsimile of the Kattalangar Quran and book albums from the series “Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan”.
The Uzbekistan delegation also visited the Bodleian Library in Oxford, one of the oldest libraries in the world, where they got acquainted with unique manuscripts related to Uzbekistan.
In the library, Uzbek scientists got acquainted with more than ten manuscripts related to the cultural heritage of Uzbekistan.
