Specialists of ministries and agencies passed the training of international consultants on WTO accession issues

International consultants conducted a three-day training workshop on “Negotiations on access for goods market in the process of accession to the WTO” for specialists of a number of ministries and agencies of Uzbekistan.

International consultants conducted a three-day training workshop on “Negotiations on access for goods market in the process of accession to the WTO” for specialists of a number of ministries and agencies of Uzbekistan. The organizers are the Ministry for Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan with the support of the United Nations Development Programme in Uzbekistan and the World Trade Organization.

The workshop participants received the latest information on the tariff profiles of key trade partners, sectoral commitments and concessions on goods, as well as a review of the results of the WTO member countries. Key aspects of the negotiations on access to the market for goods from the initial proposal to a consolidated list of tariff concessions were developed and the tariff regime of Uzbekistan was considered.

Within the framework of the practical section of the workshop related to negotiations on access to the goods market, specialists of ministries and agencies worked out negotiating strategies and conducted initial bilateral negotiations based on the situations proposed by experts.

As reported by the Press Service of the Ministry for Foreign Trade, the workshop participants attended the panel session on “Costs and benefits of accession to the WTO” of the Central Asian Trade Forum, in Tashkent.
