Special Representative of the President of Uzbekistan meets with the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan hosted a meeting between the Special Representative of the President of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan, Ismatulla Irgashev, with the Plenipotentiary of the German Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia, Matthias Lüttenberg.

According to Uzbekistan MFA, the German representative praised the results of the International Conference on Regional Connectivity in Tashkent, noting that the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to convene an international forum of such a high level was timely, and the agenda was very relevant.

The parties exchanged views on the situation in Afghanistan, considered issues of assistance to the peace process in this country.

The sides voiced concern about the escalation of the intra-Afghan armed conflict and spoke for the continuation of the efforts of the world community to support peace and stability in Afghanistan.

The parties expressed their readiness for further cooperation on Afghanistan and solving problems associated with a possible influx of Afghan refugees and border incidents.

The important role of regional countries in continuing all-round economic and humanitarian support to the Afghan people, as well as efforts to establish lasting and comprehensive peace in Afghanistan, was noted.
