Five projects are being implemented in Samarkand region in the energy sector, four in the housing and utility sector, and one each in agriculture, healthcare and tourism.

All projects worth $468 million are being implemented with the participation of international financial institutions and foreign government financial organizations.

According to the Deputy Hokim of Samarkand region O. Khodjayev, a project is being implemented to modernize the system of solid waste management in Samarkand with the participation of the French Development Agency and a project to build a Samarkand Tourist Center with the participation of the Silk Road Fund (China).

Eximbank (China) and Vnesheconombank (Russia) are financing the construction of small hydroelectric power plants at Khishrav Hydroelectric Power Plant in Samarkand, as well as along the Dargom Canal, which flows through Samarkand and Pastdargom districts.
