ХVII traditional international festival “Silk and spices” started in Bukhara.

The solemn procession, which included theatrical performances in the spirit of historical traditions, was held in the streets, the architectural monuments, and the Lyabi-Khauz complex.



Each region of Uzbekistan has unique styles and schools of handicraft. This is evidenced by products demonstrated on the shopping arcade, specially equipped for the festival. Talent of craftsmen can be seen in the gold embroidery products, coinage of Bukhara, embroidery of Samarkand, Kashkadarya and Surkhandarya, known worldwide for atlas and adras, skullcaps and porcelain wares of Fergana valley, handicrafts, manufactured in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Khorezm, Navoi, Tashkent, Syrdarya and Jizzakh regions. It is impossible to pass indifferently by the rows, where fragrant spices and herbal remedies are demonstrated.



It is appropriate to note the growing interest in the festival. In addition to representatives of Central Asian countries, artisans from Russia and Afghanistan are demonstrating their products at the festival.

Within the framework of the festival, which will end on May 27, performances of famous fashion designers, young designers, a competition for cooking a national dish – pilaf, and other various events will be held.
