Showcasing unique Uzbek art in Qatar
20:38 / 2024-02-24

On February 20-26 this year, the Week of Culture, Crafts and Tourism of Uzbekistan is taking place in Doha, Qatar.

The event aims to popularize the rich cultural heritage of Uzbekistan people, including classical and folk arts, performance traditions, folk customs, and ceremonies. At the same time, further strengthening friendship with Qatar is envisaged.

The event’s opening ceremony took place on February 22 at the Darb Al Saai cultural square. The festive events continued for three more days with great success.

It should be noted that so far, only the National Day of Qatar has been celebrated in this square, and for the first time, such a large project dedicated to the culture and art of Uzbekistan is being implemented.

At the event, the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan Ozodbek Nazarbekov noted that humanitarian, cultural, and educational ties are increasingly developing between the two countries. At the same time, agreements concluded between the leaders of the two states serve as an essential legal basis.

For several days, residents of Qatar and foreign guests became familiar with the unique art of Uzbekistan. The demonstration of the intangible cultural heritage of Uzbekistan, in particular the diversity of traditions of the country’s regions, the art of maqom and bakhshi, examples of jewelry, calligraphy, painting and miniatures, decorative and applied arts, and national musical instruments made a great impression on the people of Qatar.

The event included mobile performances, crafts, and gastronomic exhibitions. Concerts, exhibitions, and national cuisine did not leave the participants indifferent.

Negotiations also took place between the ministers of culture of Uzbekistan and Qatar. The parties defined new horizons for cooperation and long-term plans.

Such large-scale events strengthen the cultural and educational ties between the people of the two countries.
