Shiri Shiriyev: “OTS – a platform for well-being and development”
16:17 / 2022-11-23

The Scientific Director of the Center for Strategic Studies of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Shiri Shiriyev, who took part in the International Conference “Samarkand Summit of the Organization of Turkic States: The main results and prospects for the development of cooperation” held in Tashkent, as a representative of the observer state, highly appreciated the results achieved within the Organization.

“The Samarkand Summit gave a new impetus to the process of integration of the member states of the Organization of Turkic States in the current difficult geopolitical conditions. The OTS has acquired its political significance in Central Asia and has turned into a regional structure that will further strengthen friendly relations between the member countries of the organization”, says Sh. Shiriyev. – The transformation of the Organization into an influential international structure in such a historically short period has logical and historical foundations.

First, the OTS is not a political or military association, but a platform for well-being and development based on partnership in all spheres of life and economy.

Second, its geographical position allows to effectively use the trade and transit opportunities of the Organization of Turkic States. The expansion of cooperation helps consumer countries quickly and economically transport hydrocarbon resources. Most experts call it a great success that countries located on such a large territory, having different foreign policy directions and their economic strategies, have united within the framework of one Organization. For, the main routes from North to South and from East to West in the vast Eurasian space pass through Central Asia, the countries of the South Caucasus and Türkiye.

The authors of the concept “Turkic World Vision – 2040” call for the creation of an international system that will equally serve the welfare of all countries and the spread of universal human values.
