As previously reported through our social networks, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, at the invitation of the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, departed for this country on an official visit. Last week, as part of the visit, major organizations of the two countries held several events and conferences.
For instance, Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan Laziz Kudratov met with the leadership of Elsewedy Electric (Egypt) on February 13. The parties discussed the prospects for implementing joint projects and introducing innovative developments of the company into the country’s energy industry.
As part of the visit of the government delegation of Uzbekistan to Egypt, Minister Laziz Kudratov held talks in Cairo with the heads of large companies operating in electrical engineering, textile, leather and footwear, pharmaceutical products, and building materials.

The Fourth International Friendship Festival took place in Tashkent. As well as, last week the International Caravanserai of Culture of the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan hosted the opening ceremony of an exhibition of samples of traditional Japanese sushi “Love for Sushi”, timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Japan.

As for political issues, On February 14, the Special Representative of the President of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan, Ismatulla Irgashev, met with the Director for Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia at the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany Matthias Lüttenberg. According to Uzbekistan MFA, the parties exchanged views on the situation in Afghanistan, as well as some issues of interaction to resolve the situation in this country.
The British Embassy in Uzbekistan and USAID has established a cooperation to support small business in agriculture and textile production in Uzbekistan. The corresponding agreement was signed by the British Ambassador Timothy Torlot and the USAID Mission Director in Uzbekistan Mikaela Meredith.
Speaking about the activity of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, last week the Leader of the county held important meetings with representatives of international organizations. On February 16, he also held a telephone conversation with the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon. The President of Uzbekistan expressed his deep condolences to the Leader of Tajikistan in connection with human casualties and serious destruction caused by avalanches in the southeast of the country.
On the same day, Mirziyoyev had a telephone conversation with the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin. Current issues of further developing multifaceted cooperation and strengthening a comprehensive strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Russia were discussed.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Uzbekistan on February 9. As is known, on February 6, strong earthquakes occurred in the southeastern part of Türkiye, the consequences of which shocked the whole world. Uzbekistan people share the pain and grief of the Turkish brothers and mourn with them.
