President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, in his address at the 6th Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia, noted that many countries of our continent are considered the main importers of consumer products and are particularly sensitive to the effects of food security.
“According to the report of the Food and Agriculture Organization, more than half of the world’s population suffering from hunger lives in Asia”, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev said. – The paradox lies in the fact that it is our countries that are considered leading in the production of food products.
The President of Uzbekistan proposed the following new approaches:
– formation of a sustainable food production system and an optimal delivery chain;
– combination of technical regulations for the growth of domestic regional trade;
– creation of an integrated food security monitoring system in Asia.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev proposed to discuss all these issues at an international conference to be held next year in Uzbekistan under the auspices of FAO.
The Head of the state also proposed to unite efforts in solving the problems of ecology and climate change, to establish regular consultations of experts on the issues of active greening of the countries and support the connectivity of ecosystems within the framework of the Green Asia conceptual programs.
