On 1 June 2022, the long-awaited in-person side events of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group’s Annual Meetings, which will continue for two days, kicked off in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt.
The long-awaited IsDB Group Annual Meetings will take place under the theme “Beyond Recovery: Resilience and Sustainability” and will continue till the 4th of June.
This year’s meetings are to be held in light of major economic and geopolitical developments mainly characterized by the noticeable decline in the COVID-19 pandemic and the renewed hope that the world is on track for the recovery phase.
It is noteworthy that Ministers of Economy, Planning, and Finance from the 57 Member Countries of the Islamic Development Bank Group will participate in these Annual Meetings. Representatives from international and regional financial institutions, Islamic banks, national development finance institutions, business associations, and consultants from MCs will also attend the event.
The Bank Group has officially invited the governors of the member countries to participate in the Meetings, as they represent an opportunity to study new developments and explore prospects for consolidating economic relations between the member countries, under the steady ongoing international developments.
On the sidelines of these meetings, the city of Sharm el-Sheikh will also host a new edition of the IsDB Group Private Sector Forum. It will be attended by representatives of major companies and the business community at the local, regional and international levels.
The agenda of the meetings also include the official opening ceremony of the main center of IsDB Group’s Regional Hub in Cairo, Egypt, along with the signing of several financial and cooperation agreements that are expected to start activating the implementation of the Bank's newly re-aligned strategy that aims to further facilitate the MCs’ progress and move forward in achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
