This year marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization encourages its member states to carry out pragmatic cooperation in various fields and jointly work for the welfare of the people. There are huge differences in the political system, economic development, and cultural traditions among the SCO member states, but through effective consultation and upholding the "Shanghai Spirit", the member states have achieved coexistence and co-prosperity in this diverse and complex region.
China National Academy of Governance has been working closely with the Shanghai Cooperation Organization over the past 20 years. It has sent many talents to the SCO and has thus forged a deep friendship with the organization. Dong Qing, Director-General of the Department of International Cooperation at China National Academy of Governance, said that she has forged an indissoluble bond with the Shanghai Cooperation Organization since 2009. She hopes that through the upcoming “Forum on Governance and Leadership”, relevant institutions of SCO states can strengthen pragmatic cooperation in related fields and vigorously promote the Shanghai Spirit.
Tamara Kasyanova, Director of the Russian Cultural Center in Beijing, has participated in SCO activities and events many times, and she feels that these activities are all filled with warmth and amity. Therefore, when she came to work at the SCO Secretariat, she felt at home.
Min Zhu from Pakistan, a member state of the SCO, is now a researcher of the One Belt-One Road Strategy Institute at Tsinghua University. She believes that we are now living in the Asian century. Developing countries are now changing and pushing the world’s development forward. And Shanghai Spirit is going to be the common goal and aspiration that will push us into more success.
Jasur Mavlanov from Uzbekistan is the CEO of an international trading company. He likes the principle of "consultation" in the Shanghai Spirit most. He said that in today's era of great changes, it is very important for countries to understand each other, whether in trade cooperation or political relations.
