As part of the international event “Shakhrisabz – Tourism Capital of the Economic Cooperation Organization”, a press conference was held with the participation of the Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization Khusrav Noziri, Chairman of the Tourism Committee Umid Shadiyev and Hokim of Shakhrisabz Sherzod Buriyev.

Shakhrisabz was awarded the status of the ECO’s tourism capital at the Fourth Meeting of Ministers of Tourism of the Member States of the Organization for Economic Cooperation on December 13, 2022.

Information was presented at the conference on improving the tourism infrastructure of Shakhrisabz and the entire Kashkadarya region, capacity building in eco-, ethnotourism and other areas.  The participants visited an exhibition of leading artists from ECO member countries. The international gastronomic festival “Shakhrisabz Culinary Duel” was held with the participation of famous chefs from ECO member countries. More than 30 chefs presented unique dishes from their countries.
