“Uzbekistan is our independent Motherland, and the national army is our pride and honour.” A festive event has taken place under this slogan at the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Uzbekistan, devoted to the 25th anniversary of the formation of the country’s Armed Forces.

The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education of Uzbekistan, well-known poets, writers and artistes, culture officers, military servicemen and teachers of higher military educational establishments.

K.Berdiyev, the minister of defence of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and others have said that as a result of cardinal reforms in the sphere of defence, the national army had taken on the best practice of military organizational development and military art in the world while keeping its best national historical traditions and had become a reliable guarantor of the country’s security and peace.

Over the years of independence, a great deal of work was carried out to re-equip the national army and to raise its combat capability. It was not only provided with modern military hardware but was also brought up to strength with highly qualified specialists.

On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Armed Forces and Motherland Defenders Day, a number of military servicemen were awarded titles of honour and military medals for their big contributions to increasing the country’s military might.

At the conclusion of the festive event, a ceremony was held to give “Ozbekiston Respublikasi Qurolli Kuchlariga 25 Yil” (the 25th anniversary of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan) memorable badges to military servicemen.
