Veri Grow Ipagi foreign enterprise in Namangan hosted a workshop dedicated to the further development of the sericulture industry.
It was attended by the region’s Hokim Shavkat Abdurazzoqov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Uzbekipaksanoat Association Hamid Ochilov, scientists and leading industry experts.
Namangan is a region with a well-developed handicraft industry, residents are engaged in handicrafts, carpentry, jewelry, pottery, and growing silkworms. There are 6 cluster enterprises for the cultivation, processing and export of silkworms in the region. The main attention is paid to the production of silk and products made from it. If in 2017, silkworm clusters produced 601.8 tons of silkworms, by 2021 this figure has grown to 1989.4 tons. Production increased 3.3 times.
$10.6 million of investment funds were used to strengthen the forage base of sericulture, new mulberry plantations were created on 421 hectares in 2017-2021. Cluster enterprises have exported $33.3 million worth of silk products during these years.
Participants of the event exchanged views on improving production, introducing effective methods and increasing export potential.
