Seoul hosted the Economic Cooperation Forum between the Republic of Korea and Central Asia.
The event was organized by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Korea and the Institute for Eurasian Turkic Studies. It was attended by representatives of these agencies and businesspeople of the Republic of Korea, experts from the Secretariat of the Forum for Cooperation “Republic of Korea - Central Asia” and the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of Uzbekistan.
The state and prospects of Uzbekistan – South Korea cooperation were discussed at the event. Detailed information was provided about the democratic and socio-economic reforms carried out under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, as well as favorable conditions created for foreign investors in the country.
The participants highly appreciated the current state and trends in the development of bilateral cooperation during the pandemic.
It was noted that taking into account the current trends, it is still relevant to continue joint activities on the wide application of South Korean innovative developments in Uzbekistan in such areas as e-government, digital economy, blockchain, ICT training and others.
It was also noted that there are many new opportunities to further strengthen the special strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea in the coming years.
