On July 15, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva met with the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who arrived in Uzbekistan on a state visit.
It was emphasized that the inter-parliamentary dialogue has become an important part of strengthening comprehensive cooperation and strategic partnership between the two countries. The activities of inter-parliamentary friendship groups established under the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan were emphasized.
The results of the First Inter-Parliamentary Forum and the first meeting within the framework of the Dialogue of Women of Central Asian Countries and Russia, held in Ashgabat in May this year, were highly appreciated.
An agreement was reached on the exchange of experience on the implementation of national goals and objectives in sustainable development, the expansion of cultural-humanitarian ties, the organization of joint events in all areas of mutual interest.
Following the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to further deepen inter-parliamentary ties in the interests of the two fraternal countries and peoples.
