A meeting was held between the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sodiq Safoyev, and the Head of the OSCE/ODIHR Election Observation Mission, Ambassador Urszula Gacek.

The parties exchanged views on enhancing cooperation with the OSCE/ODIHR to improve the law-making process and prepare and hold the upcoming early Presidential Elections. It was noted that the elections are important for making the ongoing large-scale reforms in the country irreversible.

An agreement was reached to continue effective cooperation in the interaction of recommendations for improving the electoral legislation and organizing elections in the country. Issues of mutual interest were discussed.

The parties noted their readiness to deepen further interaction on various aspects of the democratization of the electoral legislation.
