Senate Chairperson: “The issue of supporting youth has been raised to a new level”
14:22 / 2023-12-26

Senate hosted an open dialogue “Leader and Youth”.

It was attended by senators, members of the Youth Parliament, young deputies, journalists, and over a thousand young people online.

Chairperson of the Senate, Tanzila Narbayeva, noted that the country has adopted more than 100 laws and regulations related to youth policy in recent years. The protection of the rights and freedoms of young people has been strengthened, and the legal framework for protecting their legitimate interests has been improved.

“These reforms indicate that in New Uzbekistan, youth issues have risen to the level of state policy”, says Mrs. Narbayeva. “More than 19 million young people under 30 live in Uzbekistan, almost 60 percent of the population. Such an indicator is an invaluable treasure of any developed and developing country. At the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the issue of comprehensive support for youth in all areas, including education, entrepreneurship, and social assistance, has been raised to a qualitatively new level”.

Over the past six years, enrollment in higher education has quadrupled (from 9 percent to 38 percent). Preferential educational loans worth 1.7 trillion UZS were received by 151,000 students. 758 talented, active, and enterprising young people making a worthy contribution to the country’s development were awarded state awards.

At the event, proposals were made regarding cooperation and constant communication with the Senate.
