Seminar organized jointly with the Council of Europe

The General Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Council of Europe organized a seminar dedicated to launching a training course on “International cooperation in criminal matters”.

The event was held within the framework of the European Programme for Human Rights Education for Legal Professionals (HELP) in Central Asia, the Central Asia Rule of Law Programme of the European Union, and the Council of Europe.

It was attended by employees of the General Prosecutor’s Office, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Department for Combating Economic Crimes, the Academy of Law Enforcement Agencies, regional branches of the Prosecutor’s Office, transport and military prosecutor’s offices.

Deputy Prosecutor General Svetlana Artykova informed about the work to intensify international cooperation in the criminal legal field carried out in recent years by the Prosecutor’s Office, particularly the further expansion of the legal framework for collaboration.

Experts from the Council of Europe presented the “International cooperation in criminal matters” training course. European standards and practice in legal aid in criminal matters, extradition, recovery of criminal assets, and transfer of prisoners were analyzed.

The event participants exchanged views on practical issues of international cooperation in the criminal legal field. Recommendations regarding the improvement of national legislation and law enforcement practice were developed.
