Second Wind of the Aral Sea
10:28 / 2023-11-02

Trees play a vital role in the ecosystem of our planet. They help maintain biodiversity, produce oxygen, and purify the air. Trees absorb carbon dioxide through photosynthesis, help maintain climate balance, and improve environmental quality. Tree roots help hold the soil in place, preventing erosion and keeping the soil fertile. This fragile balance, wisely conceived by nature, is easy to disrupt and challenging to restore.

ERIELL Group is responsible for maintaining the environmental balance within its activities and supporting public initiatives, taking an active part in tree planting campaigns.

Over the past two years alone, the Group of Companies has turned the territory of the Boysun BPO into a blooming garden, planted young trees at other BPOs as part of the ‘Yashil Makon” (Green Space) campaign, landscaped the territory of the Victory Park alley in Almazar district of Tashkent, and planted Japanese Sophora near the “Muruvvat” boarding house in Karshi. And this is only part of all the work carried out to restore the “lungs of the planet”.

On October 29, as part of the “My Garden in the Aral Sea” project, the ERIELL Group purchased 2,000 seedlings, and the Ustyurt expedition carried out a large-scale planting of them at the bottom of the Aral Sea. The event was essential to reviving the region’s unique natural environment.

The Aral Sea, formerly one of the world’s largest mineral lakes, has suffered from many years of anthropogenic impacts. The result was a decrease in water surface area by 90%, which negatively affected the ecosystem. However, the joint efforts of environmental activists, including employees of the Ustyurt expedition of the ERIELL Group, give hope for the future of this place of unique importance.

Planting 2,000 trees, in particular, 250 ash trees, 250 elms, and 1,500 saxauls, not only represents physical restoration but also symbolizes the desire to revive life in the Aral Sea region.

The specialists of the Ustyurt expedition enthusiastically set to work with the first rays of the rising sun. By the end of the day, a significant part of the Aral Sea territory was replenished with new trees.

“Tree planting is a step towards restoring and transforming this unique corner of nature. And the task of each of us is to make a feasible contribution to environmental well-being”, said Rambergenov Isabay Dusenbayevich, Chief Engineer of the Ustyurt expedition. “Let’s work together to preserve the ecological balance for future generations”.

Young trees will help, first of all, to hold the soil on the shores of the Aral Sea, preventing erosion and protecting it from further destruction. They can purify the air and retain dust. At the same time, these tree species have a unique ability to survive in dry and hot desert conditions. It is for these qualities that the ERIELL Group chose them to restore the Aral Sea ecosystem.

It is important to note that the planting area has a water supply system for irrigation. This is necessary to ensure that young trees take root and grow stronger.

“I am glad that ERIELL Group is actively participating in such a great cause. Planting trees at the bottom of the Aral Sea is a strategically important decision that can lead to positive changes, restore the ecosystem, and improve the lives of the population”, Begdullayev Dauletbay Gayratdinovich, a leading specialist in working with personnel of the Ustyurt expedition, said.

Such campaigns are a worthy example of doing something together for our native land and can become an excellent example for everyone living in our country to be interested in maintaining the environmental balance and improving it for future generations.

Planting trees on the bottom of the once beautiful Aral Sea symbolizes the beginning of local changes and a contribution to the overall hope of restoring our planet.

Next year, ERIELL Group will celebrate the 20th anniversary of establishing the oilfield services Group of Companies. This means that many more exciting projects related to direct activities and socially significant events are expected ahead.
