The second meeting of Uzbekistan – Canada Parliamentary Friendship Group has been held via videoconference.

The event was attended by members of friendship groups of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan and the House of Commons of Canada.

Uzbekistan’s parliamentary delegation was led by the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate Sodik Safoyev.

The parties considered issues of intensifying the activities of inter-parliamentary friendship groups and enhancing bilateral contacts between Uzbekistan and Canada, in particular, the possibility of an active exchange of delegations and a deep study of the experience of the two countries accumulated to improve the work of legislative bodies.

The sides noted their readiness to continue building up partnerships on a wide range of issues of mutual interest.

The importance of continuing cooperation between parliamentary friendship groups was noted. An agreement was reached on the exchange of visits of parliamentary delegations, as well as filling the agenda with new practical content.
