Scottish companies get acquainted with Uzbekistan’s investment and trade opportunities

The Embassy of Uzbekistan in the UK with the assistance of the Scottish Chamber of Commerce in Aberdeen organized a roundtable discussion dedicated to the investment and trade opportunities of Uzbekistan.

The event was attended by representatives of companies in the oil and gas industry, renewable energy sector, logistics and agriculture.

Representatives of the Ministries of Energy, Investments and Foreign Trade, the Agency for Attracting Investments under the MIFT, Uzbekneftegaz JSC, as well as Kashkadarya region’s Hokimiyat also made presentations online.

The British side was informed about the ongoing large-scale reforms in Uzbekistan, the progressive nature of Uzbek-British cooperation, broad opportunities for further intensification of investment and trade-economic ties. Investment opportunities in the oil and gas and petrochemical industries, alternative energy, priorities for the modernization of industries with the involvement of innovative solutions and advanced technologies were highlighted in detail. The export potential of agricultural and textile products of the regions of Uzbekistan was presented.

The participants highly appreciated the large-scale transformations in Uzbekistan, including in the economic liberalization, the development of foreign trade, and expressed interest in establishing cooperation in these areas.

Priority steps were outlined for the practical implementation of the voiced proposals and reached agreements. Representatives of several Scottish companies expressed their intention to visit Uzbekistan in March to hold meetings with potential partners.

Bilateral talks were held with representatives of the regional administration, the regional department of the Department for International Trade of the United Kingdom, the Chamber of Commerce, the Scottish Development Agency, several technology centers and companies.
