SCO has turned from a regional organization into the most significant international organization
In his welcoming speech at the 19th Meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Forum in Tashkent, SCO Secretary-General Zhang Ming focused on the structure’s achievements.
As the Head of the SCO stressed, “For more than 20 years of its development, the SCO has turned from a regional mechanism for meetings of heads of state into the largest comprehensive international organization”.
Moreover, according to him, “the number of members of the SCO big family is growing. It is expected that at the upcoming SCO Summit in Astana next month, a decision will be made on the accession of Belarus to the SCO. Thus, the number of member states will reach a historic double-digit breakthrough”, Mr. Zhang Ming noted.
