Tashkent hosted the Third Meeting of the Heads of Ministries and Agencies of the SCO Member States Responsible for Environmental Issues within the framework of the chairmanship of Uzbekistan in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

The main event of the forum was attended by responsible persons of ministries, agencies on environmental issues of Uzbekistan, as well as India, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan and the SCO Secretariat.

At the meeting, environmental issues related to climate change and other situations were discussed. It was noted that the solution to existing problems requires comprehensive actions on a global, regional and national scale.

The parties exchanged views on the implementation of the Action Plan for the implementation of the Concept of Cooperation between SCO members in environmental protection for 2022-2024, approved at a meeting of the SCO Council on September 17, 2021, in Dushanbe.

The Program for the Joint Creation of the SCO Platform for the Exchange of Environmental Information was also adopted.

Following the meeting, it was announced that the Fourth Meeting of the Heads of Ministries and Agencies of the SCO Member States Responsible for Environmental Issues in 2023 will be held in India.
