A draft Statement on Response to Climate Change was discussed and agreed upon at the meeting of the Council of National Coordinators of the SCO Member States in Samarkand.

“The statement is being adopted for the first time within the framework of the SCO. This indicates the desire and readiness of the Organization to be an active participant in the formation and implementation of regional and global climate issues. The document reflects the general approaches of the SCO member states to the issues of effective implementation of the provisions of the main international legal mechanisms in this sphere – the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Paris Agreement”, says the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Yusuf Kabuljanov.
