18:00 / 2021-08-20

This assessment was shared by the Deputy Director of the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sanjar Valiyev at an international scientific and practical videoconference on “20 years of the SCO: From regional forum to global recognition”.

As the ISRS representative noted, “celebration of the 20th anniversary of the SCO this year marks its entry into a new important stage of its activities”. According to him, in a relatively short period of time, the SCO has passed a solid path of formation and development. Member countries, observers and dialogue partners have demonstrated an effective model of multilateral interaction based on political trust, mutually beneficial cooperation, harmonious coexistence of different cultures and civilizations.

Thanks to the confidential dialogue established over two decades, Sanjar Valiyev emphasized, today the SCO has its own position on key international and regional problems. “Our countries demonstrate an example of close interaction aimed at developing mutually beneficial and equal partnership, ensuring the interests of each state in accordance with the norms and principles of international law”, he said.

“In this regard, it is safe to say that today the Organization acts as one of the strongest pillars of the architecture of global and regional security. This is manifested in the achieved results of cooperation in this area”, noted the ISRS Deputy Director.

The online conference, organized by the Center for Strategic Research under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan on August 20 in Dushanbe, was attended by leaders, diplomats, scientists and experts from leading think tanks of Central Asia, the CIS, China, Pakistan, Iran, India, as well as representatives of international organizations such as the SCO, CIS Executive Committee.
