Saneg increases gas production by 3.5 times
13:16 / 2023-08-29

One of the largest oil and gas companies in Uzbekistan, Saneg, is the executor of the state program to increase oil production in the country.

The company has subsoil use rights to 103 oil fields. At the time of the transfer of fields to it in 2019, the total volume of oil production was 378 thousand tons. In 2022, Saneg was able to increase production to 586,000 tons.

The key investments of the private company, exceeding $750 million, are aimed at developing the oil and gas sectors.

As part of pre-exploration work at 103 oil fields, Saneg specialists have identified areas of gas deposits at 78 fields. Currently 33 of them are in development.

From 2021 to 2022, the company was able to increase gas production by 3.5 times – from 389 million cubic meters to 1.4 billion cubic meters.

The main growth driver was the launch of a program for the utilization of associated petroleum gas, which is not burned aimlessly, but is directed to the needs of the population through the gas transmission system of Uztransgaz JSC.

– At the fields “Northern Shurtan”, “Shirkent” and “Turtsari” for 30 years, associated petroleum gas was flared, – says Tulkin Yusupov, Executive Director of Saneg. – Our program provides for the elimination of the use of flares and the direction of gas for preparation through separation and processing at zeolite purification plants.

The total investment to implement the flare gas utilization program is $12.5 million.

Saneg currently accounts for about five percent of Uzbekistan’s gas production. As part of the production program until 2026, the company intends to increase gas production to 3 billion cubic meters. For these purposes, with modern geological exploration technologies, it is planned to use mainly the development of deposits in Bukhara-Khiva oil and gas region.

– A promising direction is the drilling of ultra-deep wells to identify the oil and gas potential of the subsoil, conducting large-scale 3D seismic surveys at the company’s investment sites, including in the Ustyurt region, –Tulkin Yusupov said. – With the updated data, we will be able to expand our operations and take the company to a new level of production capacity.
