Drift is a type of motorsport characterized by the use of controlled skidding at the maximum possible speed and angle to the trajectory to keep on the track. Competitions are held on dry asphalt, tracks with a lot of turns. Rear-wheel drive vehicles are usually used.
Drift as a sport initially appeared in Japan. Since drifting began to develop in several cities of this country at once, it is impossible to determine the exact place of its birth. Mountain passes such as Irohazaka, Rokkosan, Hakone, and all kinds of hilly roads in Nagano are known to have originated from drift.
