16:46 / 2025-04-02

A signing ceremony took place at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, formalizing the agreement between the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan and UNESCO to hold the 43rd session of the organization’s General Conference in Samarkand. The event was attended by Saida Mirziyoyeva, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

“This is a great honor and responsibility for us: for the first time in 40 years, the UNESCO General Conference will be held outside Paris. It is the result of tireless efforts in the creative industries, public diplomacy, and high-level international agreements”, Saida Mirziyoyeva said.

The Assistant to the President emphasized that culture and art serve as a bridge, helping the world to understand Uzbekistan better and contributing to the development of international ties, joint projects, and economic partnerships.

Hosting the UNESCO General Conference in Samarkand will mark a significant milestone for Uzbekistan, underscoring its role in international cultural and scientific cooperation.
