Samarkand to host International Congress on the cultural heritage of Uzbekistan

On 22-24 July, Samarkand will host the sixth International Congress “Cultural heritage of Uzbekistan – the foundation of a new Renaissance”.

The event is organized by the World Society for the Study, Preservation and Popularization of Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan with the support of over 10 international and 5 national organizations.

The key event of the congress will be the presentation of 10 new volumes of album books of the series “Cultural legacy of Uzbekistan in the world collections” (volumes 51-60). Thus, the collection of illustrated books has already reached 60 volumes. More than 350 scientists from more than 25 countries, 100 libraries and museums have worked on it.

In addition, a presentation of a unique edition of an ancient manuscript is planned. One of Europe’s leading publishing houses Mueller & Schindler will show a facsimile of the rarest manuscript, created by the order of the outstanding son of the Uzbek land, astrologer Mirzo Ulugbek. The historical value and authenticity of this rare ancient manuscript, kept in the collection of the National Library of France, are beyond doubt.

More than 250 world-famous oriental scholars will take part in the congress, including 33 directors of famous international museums, 15 directors of national museums, 6 representatives of international organizations, more than 15 academicians, over 20 professors and 20 doctors of science
