The International Chess Federation has announced the locations and dates of major tournaments in 2025.

The FIDE Grand Swiss, one of the most prestigious chess events held every two years, will take place for the first time in the ancient and eternally young city of Samarkand from September 3 to 15, 2025. The chess players who take the 1st and 2nd places will directly enter the candidates’ tournament for the world championship.

According to the FIDE calendar, the Women’s World Cup will take place in Batumi, Georgia, from July 5 to 29, 2025, and the World Rapid and Blitz Championships in Doha, Qatar, on December 25-31.
