Samarkand to host another major conference
On 24 November, Samarkand will host the 20th meeting of the Conference of the Parties of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES CoP20).
This major conference, running until 5 December, will bring together representatives of international organizations, the scientific community, and environmental institutions from various countries.
Over the course of two weeks, participants will discuss large-scale issues, including strategic and financial topics, and seek concrete solutions to regulate trade in species listed in CITES.
Special attention will be given to improving the implementation of the Convention, ensuring the sustainable use of natural resources, and combating illegal wildlife trade. New scientific data affecting the status of species will also be presented.
