The Hokimiyat of Samarkand region hosted a meeting between Hokim Erkinjon Turdimov and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Uzbekistan Amira Fahmy.

It was noted that cooperation between Uzbekistan and Egypt is strengthening, which should be effectively used in the development of interregional trade, economic and cultural ties. The main attention was paid to enhancing collaboration in tourism.

Ambassador Amira Fahmy noted that Samarkand is one of the cities with high tourism potential in the world. Egyptians are interested in visiting the holy places and attractions of this ancient city. It was also noted that it is necessary to develop cooperation in transport and logistics, to establish direct flights between Samarkand and Cairo.

The parties discussed the issues of holding business forums with the participation of entrepreneurs and representatives of travel agencies. Readiness was expressed to cooperate in the pharmaceutical, agricultural and textile industries.
