Samarkand International Airport increases passenger traffic
09:00 / 2024-05-31

According to the first quarter results of this year, Samarkand Airport moved from the category of small to medium-sized airports. According to the Airports Council International, ACI Europe, it took second place in passenger traffic growth.

The growth of passenger traffic brings the airport into a new category for the first time – with service from 1 to 5 million passengers annually. This important event highlights the development of the Samarkand Air harbor, which provides high-quality service and comfort. The transition to a new category and second place in the rating confirm the airport’s role as a key player in the air transportation market.

In 2023, for the first time in its history, Samarkand International Airport exceeded the mark of 1 million passengers and served 1,010,938 people, which is 517,521 more than in the record year 2022.

Currently, Air Marakanda, which operates the new terminal at Samarkand International Airport, actively cooperates with 23 airlines. Flights to 18 destinations, 17 of which are international, are operated from this airport.
