Silk Road Samarkand Tourist Center hosts the Navro'z Regata Festival.
The Samarkand International University of Technology (SIUT), the Northeast Electric Power University (NEEPU, China), the Silk Road Samarkand Tourist Center, and Stekloplastik LLC organized the event. It featured an exhibition of handicrafts from Uzbekistan and China, national dishes, the sumalak festival, fan shows, Uzbek, Chinese, and Korean national games, and tea ceremonies.
Samarkand residents, foreign tourists, students, professors, and teachers of SIUT celebrated Navruz with representatives of different nationalities. The peculiar traditions and values of this holiday were demonstrated.
Bright performances by local artists and university students, as well as dance and circus performances, aroused great interest among the event participants.
The event also included the Dragon Boat Regata competition in Central Asia. At the same time, dragon boats brought from China, kayaks, canoes, and a flotilla of academic boats sailed through the channel. Professional athletes, champions, Asian winners in rowing and canoeing, and crews consisting of IRBIS sports club members of the Samarkand International University of Technology demonstrated their ability and skills.
As noted, the Navro'z Regata festival symbolizes a new format for celebrating Navruz internationally. It is planned to hold this festival annually, within the framework of which the international dragon boat rowing competition “Navro'z Regata Cup” will be held.
