Samarkand hosted the ICAO International Seminar on implementing the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA).

The event was attended by employees of the Uzaviation Agency, experts from more than 30 countries, and representatives of major airlines, aircraft, and aviation fuel manufacturers. In particular, specialists from GTL Uzbekistan, Airbus, Boeing, Uzbekistan Airports, Uzbekistan Airways, Qanot Sharq, Samarqand Airways, Azerbaijan Airlines, Tassili Airlines, Silk Way West Airlines, and QAZAQ AIR JSC attended the event.

The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) is a United Nations agency that helps 193 countries cooperate and share their skies for mutual benefit. 

Since its establishment in 1944, ICAO’s support and coordination have helped countries diplomatically and technically realize a uniquely rapid and dependable network of global air mobility, connecting families, cultures, and businesses all over the world and promoting sustainable growth and socio-economic prosperity wherever aircraft fly.
