Samarkand hosted International Half Marathon competitions.

The event was attended by more than two thousand people. It was organized by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan jointly with Samarkand region’s Hokimiyat and several other organizations.

487 people participated in the 21-kilometer race, 748 people in the 10-kilometer race, and 907 running enthusiasts participated in the two-kilometer race. 100 people participated in a two-kilometer Nordic Walking competition.

Athletes from Surkhandarya region became first in the 10-kilometer race. Yevgeny Fadeyev among men and Sitora Khamidova among women crossed the finish line first. Shokhrukh Davlatov from Surkhandarya overcame a 21-kilometer race among men, and Gulshanoy Sattarova from Kyrgyzstan – among women. Khasan Mirsoatov from Tashkent region and Irina Bernikova from Andijan region crossed the two-kilometer distance. 

Marat Bikmetov from Tashkent became the best runner and Makhbuba Dusanova from Syrdarya – the first in Nordic Walking.

Winners were awarded special statuettes, cash prizes and memorable gifts.
