Samarkand Day celebrated
In 1996, on October 18, a magnificent monument to the great commander Amir Temur was unveiled in ancient and eternally young Samarkand, and the city was awarded the Order of Amir Temur of the first degree.
This day was named Samarkand Day.
Today, representatives of the regional and city hokimiyats and the general public, led by Samarkand region’s Acting Hokim, A. Boboyev, visited the mausoleum of Amir Temur. Surahs from the Quran were recited, and flowers were laid at the monument to Amir Temur.
In connection with the City Day, a multi-storey building, a shopping and service complex, a hotel, a restaurant, and a production facility will be commissioned in Samarkand today. Cultural programs and concerts will be presented in city parks, squares, and other cultural and recreational venues.
