Samarkand Day was celebrated on October 18.
Representatives of the regional and city hokimiyat led by Samarkand region’s Hokim E.Turdimov and public figures visited the Amir Temur Mausoleum.
Flowers were laid at the monument to Amir Temur. The monument was erected in 1996 – on the 660th anniversary of the birth of the great commander and was inaugurated on October 18. This date was declared the Samarkand Day.
The main festive events continued in the Central Park of Culture and Recreation named after Alisher Navoi and on the street of the same name. Cultural programs and exhibitions were presented by the city’s higher education institutions, preschool education organizations and schools, mahallas, enterprises, and various departments. Poetry and drawing contests about Samarkand and sports competitions were also held.
