Samarkand City will be built in cooperation with the Silk Road Fund

The investment fund, established in December 2014 in China, promotes the implementation of major projects for expanding trade and economic ties between the countries located on the Great Silk Road.

On June 6 this year, a memorandum of understanding on construction of “Samarkand city-1” tourist zone was signed between the National Bank for Foreign Economic Activity of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Silk Road Fund, in Beijing.
This project, implemented within the framework of the “Program of measures on active development of tourism potential of the city of Samarkand and Samarkand region in 2017-2020”, developed at the initiative of the Head of the state, is aimed at development of tourism in the country in accordance with modern requirements. The project envisages the increase of tourist potential of the city of Samarkand as a well-known historical and cultural center and its transformation into the “Pearl of the Silk Road of the XXI Century”.
Acting khokim of Samarkand region E.Turdimov welcomed the guests with the arrival to the ancient and ever-young city, told about the economy and tourism potential of the region. Noting the developing cooperation between Samarkand and the cities and provinces of China, the khokim emphasized that both parties are equally interested in fruitful cooperation in creation of the tourist zone “Samarkand City-1”.
Guests from China got acquainted with the proposed projects and territories, where the construction of a tourist zone is planned.
An excursion was organized for the guests on historical and cultural monuments and other sights of the city of Samarkand.
