Samarkand and Turkestan to cooperate in tourism

A delegation led by the Akim of Turkestan region of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Nurlakhan Kusherov, arrived in Samarkand.

The guests visited historical and cultural landmarks in Samarkand and became familiar with the region’s tourism potential. During their visit to the International Tourism Academy and the Silk Road International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, they were informed about the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan aimed at developing tourism and the process of training personnel for this sector.

At the meeting between Acting Hokim of Samarkand region Adiz Boboyev and Akim of Turkestan region Nurlakhan Kusherov, it was noted that the strengthening trade, economic, and cultural-humanitarian ties between the two neighboring countries are giving new momentum to interregional cooperation.

It was stated that Samarkand region, which has already established partnerships with many areas of Kazakhstan, is ready to expand cooperation with Turkestan region as well.

It was noted that Samarkand and Turkestan are interested in developing cooperation in tourism, which aligns with the ancient friendship and good-neighborly relations between the peoples of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.

A. Boboyev and N. Kusherov supported the proposals and initiatives presented and signed a Memorandum of Cooperation.

The guests from the Turkestan region also visited the International Tourist Center, where they familiarized themselves with the world-class facilities and services available to tourists.
