Samarkand and Nara become sister cities

Ancient Samarkand, which is an important center on the path of development of cooperation and friendship between peoples, established fraternal ties with many famous cities of the world. Today, the list of twin cities of the eternal city has expanded by one more city.

An Agreement was signed on the establishment of fraternal ties with the city of Nara, Japan.

The event was attended by the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan – Minister of Tourism and Cultural Heritage Aziz Abdukhakimov, Head of Samarkand region Erkinjon Turdimov, Hokim of Samarkand Fazliddin Umarov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Uzbekistan Yoshinori Fujiyama, Mayor of the city of Nara Motonobu Nakagawa and members of the delegation.

The parties discussed issues of further strengthening friendly ties and cooperation in the economy, tourism, science, culture and sports, and establishing consistent effective relations.

Following the meeting, the heads of the cities of Nara and Samarkand signed an Agreement on the establishment of fraternal ties.
