This was announced by the Nationwide Movement “Yuksalish”. A delegation from Uzbekistan is currently participating in a training program for hokims in Türkiye.
As part of the visit to Konya, Türkiye, Chairman of the “Yuksalish” movement Bobur Bekmurodov met with the President of the Union of Turkish World Municipalities, Mayor of Konya İbrahim Altay. The parties discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation.
At the meeting, a cooperation protocol was signed between the Mayor of Konya, İbrahim Altay, and the Hokim of Samarkand, Fazliddin Umarov, granting Samarkand and Konya the status of sister cities.

The signed protocol outlines the parties’ intentions to develop partnerships based on the principles of mutual respect, trust, and equality in various fields, including experience exchange, economic cooperation, education, healthcare, youth policy, sports, tourism, preservation of historical and cultural heritage, environmental protection, energy, culture, arts, information technology, and transportation.
The agreement also includes support for investors and entrepreneurs and assistance in implementing joint projects funded by international organizations. Additionally, initiatives aimed at supporting socially vulnerable groups will be carried out.

It was emphasized that the signing of the protocol marks a significant milestone in strengthening friendly relations between Samarkand and Konya, opening new prospects for experience exchange and joint project implementation.
During the visit, a presentation was also held on affordable housing programs in the region. Furthermore, a roundtable discussion on “Prospects for Tourism Development in Modern Conditions” took place, where participants discussed current issues and opportunities for expanding bilateral cooperation in the tourism sector.
